http://www.one80.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/20090702_002_500.jpgWhen people think about losing weight, what they typically mean to say is that they want to lose fat. One of the best ways to lost fat is to actually gain weight. Sounds confusing right? When you build muscle, your body will eat up the fat and turn it into muscle. This is one of the quickest ways to get rid of fat, but it will also make you lose weight. Here are some other myths about how to lose weight, build muscle, and get healthy.

People think that the only way to muscle up is if you spend hours and hours in the gym. You do need to work out to build muscle but you do not need to spend your whole life in the gym. In fact if you workout too much you can actually decrease the size of your muscles. Your body needs energy to build muscle. If you workout too much, your body will actually take that energy from your muscles, making them shrink.

If you want to lose weight, build muscle, and get healthy it is actually better for you to work out in short, intense periods. Another misconception on losing weight and building muscle is that you have to starve yourself to lose weight. Eating less can be a great way to lose weight, but it can also make you look sickly. If you want to turn your fat into muscle and get healthy, you might actually have to increase the amount of food that you eat. The body needs energy to workout. You need to feed your body so it can feed your muscles. A diet that is rich in protein and carbohydrates is a great way to make sure you have a good body building diet.
