Tips For Face Painting

If you can apply your own make-up or doodle a simple design, you can learn to face paint for a kids party. With these easy tips and techniques and a little practice, you'll be turning out all sorts of colorful characters. Here's how to achieve spectacular results and the admiration of children and parents alike.

For under $50.00, a beginner’s “toolbox” of Face Painting supplies can be purchased. This cost pales in comparison to some of the financial commitments that are encouraged when starting other businesses or purchasing the inventory to sell at craft shows, etc. And it’s never a waste to purchase Face Painting supplies because your kids will love them as much as you do! Don’t be surprised if they offer to paint you sometime.

Start out with getting a palette that has black, white and the primary colors – red, blue and yellow. With these colors you can mix what ever color you need and this will you give you great practice if you have just started learning how to face paint. Then once you’ve started painting quite often you’ll start to notice that you’ll need certain colors more so than others. And you can buy these specific colors in addition to black, white, red, blue and yellow. E.g. You might find that green is a popular color so instead of constantly mixing blue and yellow together to make green you might want to buy a palette of green paint.

If you don’t have your own coloring-in and picture books then check out your local library, they’re sure to have plenty of children’s picture books. If you have children or nieces and nephews and they’re into drawing and coloring in, you might like to take something that they’ve drawn and paint that on their faces! Your kids will love the fact that you liked their pictures so much you wanted to try it for yourself and they’ll feel much more involved in your hobby.

But if you want an even easier way to find simple face painting designs, (pretty popular ones at that!) There is a way! And if you want someone to do all the hard work for you and show you step-by-step photos on how to face paint each layer then the best thing to do is to learn from a professional face painter, if you can't find somebody close to you, you're bound to find somebody (like me) online, there is great face painting help on the net if you're looking for simple face painting designs.

Kids love this idea, trust me – I’ve tried it many a time, it makes them feel like they have a costume on and really lets them have fun with the character they’ve been painted whether it be a princess or vampire! Although this might sound like it’s complicated and will take up heaps of time – it won’t. As long as you keep them simple.

Now you have you template you can photocopy this or use tracing paper over the top to create your own face painting patterns. Some people like to have the outlines of the design and then creating the color and shading on the actual face, others like to experiment with color and variety of color with the same design.
