This article is meant to be informative and should answer some of the questions which are misunderstood about bodybuilding as a sport. It will clear up misconceptions and give you the basic principles to apply that will totally change your physique. You should note that bodybuilding is an exercise in discipline. It requires hard work. Here are some tips on the training schedule, diet and other requirements need to make you increase those muscles.

It is wrongly assumed that bodybuilders spend hours a day working out in the gym. It will surprise you to discover that most of these big guys spend no more than an hour a day for four to six days in a week. The best way to gain muscle is by breaking down muscle fiber through intense workouts, eat healthy foods with the right nutrients and allow your body to have enough rest time for recovery which results in growth. Since the body wants the next workout to be less strenuous it will make the muscles bigger and strong for it to accomplish this effort. Thus it means that growth takes place at home on the rest days but not in the gym. Working out acts as the stimulus for growth but growth mechanism takes place when you are done working out.

Dieting is another very important aspect of bodybuilding which is also highly misunderstood. It is critical to consume a diet heavily loaded with protein. To get better results, eat at least 6 small different meals well spread out. In other words you have to eat a considerable amount of protein after every three hours. This routine should be followed through no matter how busy or occupied you might be. Amino Acids which are the building blocks of life are contained in protein. They are also very critical in muscle recovery which only takes place in their ample presence. The only source for amino acids is dietary protein. When you consume an oversupply of protein, your body gains a positive nitrogen balance which helps in repairing damaged muscle cells. However amino acids get utilized in three hours so you will need to re-supply your body with more amino acids otherwise your body could get into a negative nitrogen balance. This could result in your body removing amino acids from the muscle cells causing muscle growth and repairs to cease.

The other requirements which may be useful to achieve that muscular look is by taking supplements. This is especially important to those people who are not registering any change through food, rest and training. The best supplements should contain creatine, glutamine, whey protein and multivitamins. Avoid anabolic steroids which are powerful drugs that could cause harmful side effects. Should you need to use steroids make sure you know what you are doing by making a thorough research so that you will understand the changes which are likely to take place both in the short and long term. Improper use of steroids could destroy your kidneys and liver.
